A BILL to amend article one, chapter forty-eight-c of the code
of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated
section one hundred six-b, relating to requiring the clerk
of the circuit court to provide notification to a child's
school when a court's modification of a child custody
determination results in a change of parental custody.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That article one, chapter forty-eight-c of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section one
hundred six-b, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS.
§48C-1-106b. Notification to school of change in custodial parent.

If a court orders a modification of a child custody
determination which results in a change in the child's parental
custody, the clerk of the circuit court shall send a certified
letter to the school which the child attends within five days of
the entry of the court's order notifying the school of the
change in parental custody.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require the clerk of
the circuit court to provide notification to a child's school
when a court's modification of a child custody determination
results in a change of parental custody.
